As a little last-minute Christmas present to our listeners, Laura Dickinson of the Keep It Running Podcast interviews father, future doctor, and recent winner of The Marathon Project, Martin Hehir.

Hehir was a NCAA champion at Syracuse University, and he now trains with the Reebok Boston Track Club. Coming off a sixth place finish at the U.S. Olympic marathon trials, he ran an impressive 2:08:59 marathon last weekend to win the Marathon Project. He walks us through what it was like to take the lead in the biggest race of his running life with about five miles to go.

He also talks about getting through 24-hour shifts, sneaking in runs on his lunch break at the hospital, waking up extremely early in order to chase his running dreams, and crushing Queen's Gambit during his marathon taper.
